6 Reasons Why Pets Make You A Better Person

posted by The Daily Fluff September 7, 2016 0 comments

We all know that our furry friends brighten up our lives, but did you know that they are also helping to make you a better person?

Here are some of the amazing things pets do to make us better people:

Pets…

Make you appreciate the little things:

How often does your pet do something cute that makes you stop what you’re doing and just watch? Whether it’s a head tilt or a head-bump from your cat, our pets know how to get our attention so we can really appreciate what surrounds us.

Teach you responsibility:

Remember that fish your parents gave you when you were young? Yep, that was to teach you responsibility. By caring for a pet you become in-tune to their needs and understand what it means to have something rely on you.

Encourage you to be active:

Most pets are playful and encourage you to get moving; resulting in a more active and healthy owner.

Frankie Sunny the sausage dog says, “I help my humans stay fit and healthy by giving them the puppy dog eyes so they take me for lots of walks.”

Bentley the Newfoundland agrees with this and points out, “I give my owner a reason to exercise—only if I feel like it too!”

Teach you to not hold grudges:

You just scolded your dog two minutes ago for chewing up your favourite decorative cushion, but here he is with his dopey smile looking for a belly rub. Pets prove to you that everyone makes mistakes. Even if you haven’t been in the best mood, or if they have been extra naughty, you still love each other!

Cheer you up:

Whether you’ve had a tough day at work or you’ve heard some bad news, your pet knows. It’s no doubt that pets can sense your feelings and often when they do they try to comfort you. Not only is this heartwarming, but it helps to cheer you up so you can get up and keep going. Even if things aren’t going your way, you have your pet to snuggle up to at the end of the day.

Bentley reassures his human, “I’ll smother you in kisses when you’re sad!”

Teach you patience:

Young animals need to be trained and taught from a young age, but this is not something that happens overnight. By owning and raising a pet, you’ll learn that good things really do come to those who wait.
