7 Simple Toys We Guarantee Your Fussy Cat Will Love

posted by The Daily Fluff December 16, 2016 0 comments

Cat owners; a common term used to refer to the human slaves that live to please, serve and give gifts to cats.

However, these cat recipients are often displeased with these gifts, and opt for the items that aren’t toys, shouldn’t be toys and probably never will be advertised as toys.

So in order to save money and stop wasting your time browsing pet stores looking for the perfect cat toy that doesn’t exist, we have compiled a list of simple “toys” that your royal, egotistical kitty should love, at least for a little bit. Because let’s face it, even if the perfect toy did exist your cat would probably decide it hates it!

Scrunched up… anything:

To cats scrunched up materials are super humorous. Whether it’s the noise, shape or texture we don’t know, but they sure do love it! Scrunch up paper or tin foil and watch your cat have a ball (literally).

In my mind nothing beats some tin foil screwed up tightly into a ball. It’s light, and perfect to push around the place. Many expensive toys have been forgotten about when the foil ball comes out! Says Freddie Mercury the British Shorthair.

Their tail:

This one might not work on every cat, but we guarantee some will fall for it. When your cat is lying down wiggle its tail and watch the amusing events that follow. Your cat may be determined to win against the fluffy beast before it.

Pencils & Drinking Straws:

Pencils and straws work a treat as toys. Hold one end and tap it around your cat until you earn his/her attention. Be sure to supervise so they don’t get eaten!

A Box:

Ollie says,

Nothing beats a cardboard box for fun times!

A simple toy that can keep your cat amused for hours—with or without your participation. If you’re feeling creative and want to step it up a notch, cut holes in the box and poke a pencil in and out of the holes whilst your cat tries to catch it.

An Empty Sticky Tape Roll:

Once your sticky tape roll is empty, give it to your cat! They’re sturdy, roll and are the perfect size for your cat to play with.

Hair Ties:

Stretchy, amusing and they can fly! There’s bound to be at least one hair tie in every household and due to this they make a simple but effective cat toy. Throw or flick it for your cat to chase. Some may even figure out how to stretch it back and flick it themselves!

Laser Pen:

An all-time favourite that can keep them busy for hours. Point it at walls, along the ground and back again to help your cat get active. Ensure you NEVER point it at your cat’s face or anyone else’s. They can be harmful so we recommend only using a very low-grade laser light.

I love a laser pen. Chasing red dots is the best! – Bruno the Burmese

Five Fun Games to Play With Your Cat

posted by The Daily Fluff August 29, 2016 0 comments

If you’re a cat lover then you would know, each cat has its own unique personality, and there is no doubt that no two cats are the same. Here are some fun ideas to keep your cats entertained.

The Tech Cat

Who says cats can’t be tech nerds too? Google Play and Apple’s App stores are pretty much exploding with games for our feline friends. As long as you’ve got a smart-phone or a tablet, you’re ready to go.

Most games will let you determine what level your beloved kitty plays at, and as they advance the game will too!

To prevent any shattering disasters, and to protect your kitty’s claws, invest in a glass screen protector before you get started sharing your love for all things gadgets.

We love JitterBug and Cat Fishing.

The Traditional Cat

We all know that most cats are totally content just playing with feathers or a piece of string, and our Insta-famous friends Levi and Abby definitely agree.

“We see those feathers just waiting for us to pounce, I wonder who’ll get there first? Maybe we’ll go for that string just lying there taunting us instead… Mmmm, decisions decisions.  It’s such a hard life being a cat”

Aint that the truth.

luluThe No-Fuss Cat

We all know those cats who would be perfectly content going through life, simply entertaining themselves. They don’t need an iPad, or a box of toys to be entertained.

Our friend Freddy Mercury, like his namesake is known to be cheeky on occasions:

“One of my absolute favourite past times is to play hide-and-seek. I lurk behind doors and when an unsuspecting human passes I launch myself at them with a huge meow, paws outstretched. The reactions are priceless!”

Whether it’s feet under the table, or your hand under a blanket – these cats know how to keep themselves entertained on a budget.

freddyThe Adventurous Cat

For the super-energetic cat, your regular scratching post can be a bit of a bore. If you’re not willing to invest in one of those super OTT kitty jungle gyms, then make your own!

Gather together your cat’s favourite toys, tunnels and hiding spots and make them into their own personalised obstacle course. Hide treats inside their favourite toys, or use a string to lead them through the course.

This is a sure way to keep them entertained, and also tire those energetic kitties out!

If you’re looking for a kitty jungle gym then we recommend this one.

The Hungry Cat

In the wild, not every meal comes as easy as meowing at the bag of food until it magically appears in the bowl. Bring out those hunter-gatherer instincts in your furry friend and make dinnertime fun.

Try rolling dry food across the floor, hiding it around the house, or stuffing treat balls (like this one from My Pet Warehouse) with dry food. Why not make dinner time fun?
