Fun Springtime Activities To Do With Your Pet in Melbourne

posted by The Daily Fluff November 5, 2016 0 comments

After a somewhat prolonged winter here in Melbourne, it’s finally time! Spring has officially arrived (well, most of the time, it is Melbourne after all). So now it’s time to get out of your dressing gown, get that adorable sweater off your furry friend and get outside!

Unsure what to do? Here are some of our favourite activities for you and your pet to do this spring:

Coffee date:

Now that it’s getting a bit warmer, you can finally have your Sunday brunch outside again (praise hands emoji)! When the sun is shining, take your pup along and enjoy Melbourne’s awesome café culture and our beautiful spring days! Most cafes welcome dogs along in all outside areas. If you’re looking to really treat your pup, then check out Doghouse! A café made entirely for dogs, sounds pretty good if you ask me!

Explore the laneways:

Melbourne is famous for its hidden laneways. Whether you’re on the lookout for some of Melbourne’s best coffee, or if you want to admire some of the best graffiti there’s bound to be something for you and your fur-baby to enjoy. Here are some of our faves:

  • Centre Place and Degraves Street, between Flinders Street and Collins Street: Grab some coffee or breakfast in the bustling laneways. Avoid peak times (generally any time after lunch) if your pup doesn’t like big crowds.
  • Hosier Lane: Famous for its ever-changing graffiti, Hosier Lane is a must see. Grab your camera and take some happy snaps of your pup amongst the art.

Beach time:

After what seemed like an endless winter, it’s finally warm enough to take a trip to the dog beach! Whether your pup is a water-baby, or a land-lover they are sure to enjoy some time under the sun. Before you head down for a swim, be sure to check the local council restrictions and regulations.

Here are some of our favourite dog beaches:

  • Brighton Dog Beach, Sandown St, Brighton VIC 3186
  • West Beach St. Kilda, 330A Beaconsfield Parade, St Kilda West VIC 3182
  • Sandringham Dog Beach, Jetty Rd, Sandringham VIC 3191

Wine-time:

Yep, you heard us right. Turns out wineries and pups are a match made in heaven. Gourmet Pawprints specialises in organising dog-friendly winery tours.

Whether you want to head to the Mornington Peninsula, or to visit the Yarra Valley, Gourmet Pawprints will plan a day for you and your dogs to enjoy. Best part is, everything is organised for you! All you have to do is show up with your best fur-friend and enjoy the local wine. Bliss!
