- Rabbits or Bunnies?
Rabbits and bunnies are the same animal. There is no difference except your preference of name! However, they are different to hares, who are larger, have longer ears and are typically less social.
- Litters of Litters:
It is pretty well known that rabbits have large litters. They can start producing from the age of one, with litter sizes ranging anywhere from one to sixteen. But another fun fact is that they can have multiple litters in one year. Rabbits are only pregnant for about a month and they can be impregnated right after giving birth! That’s a lot of babies!
- A Green Diet:
Rabbits are herbivores, eating only plants, grass and weeds. A healthy diet for a rabbit includes plenty of fresh green vegetables and grass. Some treats can include fruit, carrots and sultanas. Rabbits are also fast eaters. They can chew up to 120 times a minute!
- My Dear Rabbit:
A male rabbit is called a buck and a female rabbit is called a doe. Yep, that’s right. Just like deers!
- I’m a Morning Person:
Rabbits are crepuscular, which means that they are most active in the early morning and night. If you’re an early riser, then rabbits are the pets for you!

Wild rabbits live in underground holes called burrows, and a group of burrows are called warrens. Warrens can be built as deep as 3 meters, and they have multiple entrances for quick escapes. Now that’s home improvement!
- Tooth Sweet:
Rabbits are known for their cute little front teeth, but those aren’t the only ones they’ve got. Rabbits have a total of 28 teeth, and their teeth never stop growing. It’s perfect for all that chewing!
- Bunny with Brains:
Domesticated rabbits can easily be trained. They can quickly learn how to use a litter tray, as they have very good memories. This means they can remember where everything is in their territory. And we can’t even remember where we left our keys!
- Hippity Hop:
Rabbits are very playful. They love playing with their toys and can be taught to play fetch. Whenever they’re happy, rabbits jump in the air with joy, flicking their feet and head. This adorable motion is called a binky!
